If you watch HBO*s True Blood, then you know the opening song, Bad Things by Jace Everett. Actually, if it weren*t for True Blood, I wouldn*t know the song at all. I thought it was a cool sounding guitar song, so I thought I*d give it a try. I thought it might be a bit more advanced than my current level and I was right.

So, as requested in another post*s comment section, here are some more pics of my 2009 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Korina 1957 Reissue. I decided to take it to my studio since I thought it would look good against the aged hardwood floors.

I think I*m going to start a new feature here where Monday*s will be the day I post video of songs I*m learning. Twitter has Music Mondays so why shouldn*t I. I*m not sure I can commit to EVERY Monday, but I*ll try to at least make it every other Monday.
I*ve had a bit of a Black Keys obsession since I first heard them about a year ago. The moment I heard the opening to Thickfreakness I knew this was going to be a band I liked. Well, since then I*d say The Black Keys have accounted for about 80% of my music rotation. One of my favorite songs by them is I*ll Be Your Man off of The Big Come Up# and it just so happens it*s pretty easy to play. When I say it*s easy to play, I mean I can play it for the most part (my apologies in advance to The Black Keys).

Well, I doubt I need to mention it, but today is a sad day due to the passing of Les Paul. I recently watched the Les Paul documentary Les Paul: Chasing Sound and I was absolutely amazed by what he had accomplished musically and technologically. I remember when I was a kid I use to think ※why is there a guitar named after Les Paul# who the hell is he?§ Of course at the time Def Leppard*s Phil Collen was my idol and if you didn*t have big hair you didn*t exist. But take one look at this documentary and you*ll see why not only was a guitar named after him, the greatest guitar ever made was named after him (there*s a reason I chose a Les Paul for my logo at the top of the page).

I*ve always wondered if I could really tell the difference in sound between two sets of strings of the same gauge on the same guitar. So when I took my new Gibson Les Paul Goltop over to San Francisco Guitarworks to get a proper setup I also had them put on a new set of strings (I could have done it myself, but I was feeling lazy and they were working on my guitar anyway).
But, before taking the Les Paul into the shop I did a quick recording on the current strings so I could compare them to the new strings once I got my guitar back.
